![]() The CBR Brave have travelled north this weekend to play two Exhibition Games against one of the new teams in the Australian Ice Hockey League - the Brisbane Lightning. The first game of the weekend was played Saturday at Iceworld Boondall - the puck being dropped at 5:15pm Queensland time. The Brave hit the scoresheet immediately. Casey Kubara opened the scoring with what proved to be the only goal of the First Period. The Brave added another goal in the ninth minute of the Second Period - and opened a three goal lead with another in the thirteenth minute. These two goals were scored by Andy Camenzind - and he was assisted in both by Casey Kubara. This meant that the Visitors took a 3 goals to nil lead into the Second Intermission. With only seconds elapsed in the Third Period, Camenzind completed his natural hat trick with a third goal - again assisted by Casey Kubara, with a secondary assist by returning Brave Defenceman Matt Harvey. Mike Giorgi added another goal for the Brave in the fourth minute - making the Brave’s tally 5. With time running down in the game, the Lightning managed to score a brace of goals - through Aaron Wanat and Harley Anderson. The final score was a 5-goals-to-2 win to the CBR Brave. The teams will face off again tomorrow in the second game of the weekend - with the Puck to be dropped at 3:30pm Brisbane time (4:30pm Canberra time). CBR Brave 5 - Brisbane Lightning 2 |
