To celebrate AIHL Finals weekend, we have two Q&As for the price of none! And it’s our two very popular 2022 Imports..
And now, a chat with Garret Cockerill..
Congratulations on your play this year! How do see the team’s performances so far?
The team’s performance has been great since I’ve been here. We have yet to lose a game and I’m looking forward to keeping the momentum going into Finals weekend and bring home a Cup.
Brave fans - I’m expecting you to show up and celebrate with us!
How is it that you ended up at the CBR Brave this year?
I was just back at home after the long season last year and my roommate from last season (Brayden Low) who was a former player of the Brave was in contact with Jordie. Brayden first messaged me and got Jordie and I together and it seemed like an opportunity too good to pass up.
What did you know about Australian Ice Hockey - and the Brave - before you arrived?
I didn’t know much of anything about the Hockey coming to Australia. I was honestly surprised when I heard there was a League down here and ever more surprised when I heard they play for the Goodall Cup, with all of its history.
Aside from Australia (and our Brave Cave), where is the most unusual place that you have played Hockey? Is there anywhere you’ve played that matches up to the quality of Rink and Spectator we have here in Canberra?
Jordie did tell me that there was no glass anywhere around the rink at Canberra’s home stadium. I have never played in a rink with no glass so that’s certainly a first but the atmosphere and the great fans really brings life into the place.
The AIHL Finals are here! This weekend, the Brave take on the best of the League for the Goodall Cup. We always like to see our fans in person - but if you cannot be in Melbourne remember that you will be able to see all of the Finals on Kayo Freebies. (https://kayosports.com.au/freebies).
