Q&As are back - and this week we catch up with a young Brave Forward just back from winning a Bronze Medal for Australia at the Under 20s World Championships - Nick Doornbos..
Congratulations on your play this year! How do see the team’s performances so far?
Hey Scott! Thank you for that! The Team’s play this year has been amazing - we’ve been playing as a team all season and it shows on the League Ladder.
You’ve been getting some good minutes with the team this year. How has it been for you this year?
It has been an experience for sure - having a lot of the more experienced players giving me pointers after all of my shifts which helps me adjust and improve my game.
Was it hard for you to come back to top-level Hockey after having enforced time off for the Pandemic?
Yeah, it definitely has been - especially with the rink being closed for something like 10 months and not being able to skate during that time. It was really rough and something I would not like to do again.
You’ve just come back from the Under 20s World Championships in Mexico. Congratulations on the Bronze medal - that is absolutely brilliant! What was that experience like? For people who won’t ever get the opportunity, what is it like to represent your country overseas?
Thank you! The experience was one of a kind!
It’s always a pleasure being able to represent your country in any type of event or sport. Just being able to pull on the Kangaroo jersey and playing with such a close knit group like we had this year was very exciting - and I cannot wait to do it again if the opportunity arises.
Most people will remember the game the Brave played against the Sydney Ice Dogs last year - and the sight of you taking a penalty stroke against (your brother) Jakob. What memories do you have of that game - and the shoot-out..?
Honestly I don’t remember too much from the game, but pretty much everything from the shoot-out. It’s always fun playing against my brother and it just reminds me of our childhood and always versing each other.
Do you have any message you’d like to give to the Brave Fans?
Hey Brave fans! Come down to the Cave on Saturday as we take on the Sydney Ice-Dogs in our last home game before Finals!!
Don’t forget this Saturday (August 13) is the FINAL Home Game for Season 2022. It is also our McDonald’s Menslink game - the team will be wearing a special Black-and-Silver strip (which will be auctioned after the game), and there will be opportunities to donate money on Game Day to a very worthy cause! Puck drop is 5pm at the Brave Cave.
Tickets are still available through the Brave Website - https://shop.cbrbrave.com.au/tickets/
