Former NHL and AHL goal tender Matt Climie has linked with the CBR BRAVE for season 2019.
The veteran goal tender comes to Canberra with almost 250 AHL games under his belt along with stints in the NHL and leagues in Europe.
Climie made his NHL debut for the Dallas Stars against the St. Louis Blues in 2009. During his debt game he made 22 saves en route to a 5–4 Stars overtime victory, making him just the fifth goaltender to win his NHL debut with the Stars. Climie went on to get a taste of more NHL action with the Stars and the Coyotes but it was his stint with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL that stands out with a four-season average save percentage of 0.910 over 145 games.
Climie comes to the Brave fresh from a playoff run in the Alps Hockey League. He says Australia has been on his radar for a while and he’s excited to play the game he loves down under.
