CBR BRAVE AND NAVY TIGERSHARKS ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP |
|

The CBR Brave have today announced a new partnership with the Australian Defence Force ice hockey team, the Navy Tigersharks, for the 2016 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Formed in February 2015, the ADF Ice Hockey Association (ADFIHA) is made up of representatives from the Army, Air Force and Navy. With a large Defence presence in Canberra, the partnership provides a platform for promoting ice hockey within the Defence community while helping to develop emerging talent. ADFIHA President, AIRCDRE Bill Kourelakos said: “The relationship between the Navy Tigersharks and the CBR Brave is a fantastic opportunity for both teams to learn from each other. For the Tigersharks, having the best players and coaches on hand to assist in improving the skills of our players is an opportunity that cannot be missed. The Navy Values of Honour, Honesty, Courage, Integrity and Loyalty are clearly equally important to the Brave and we hope this common view will bring our two teams closer together.” CBR Brave Director Warren Apps is excited to be partnering with Navy Tigersharks this season. “It will be great to have the Navy Tigersharks involved with the Brave this season. We have followed separate but similar timelines in our development and I think it will add another level to an already strong foundation we have at the club. It is a great way to support the defence force and the growing talent we have here in Australia. We’re really looking forward to seeing how we can develop this relationship further as the season gets underway.” AIRCDRE Kourelakos said: “With a broad spectrum of playing abilities in the Tigersharks it is a wonderful opportunity for our players to improve and better themselves. Further, we hope that through this affiliation the Brave will become something of an aimpoint for Navy and ADF players that are capable of playing at the AIHL level. We'd love to see them get the opportunity to play at an elite level in Australia.” CMDR Matt Doornbos, ADFIHA Vice President and Navy’s senior representative wished the Brave a successful 2016 season: “This is an exciting opportunity for the Navy Tigersharks. With a large contingent of Navy within Canberra we look forward to getting behind the Brave and wish them the best of luck for the ensuing season.” |
