The Canberra Cavalry and CBR Brave have announced a new partnership that will benefit both clubs and offer extended benefits to their growing fan bases.
The deal will give Brave and Cavalry members access to a range of partnership benefits including discounted tickets and merchandise. But it’s the opportunity to combine to drive promotion of both sports that the clubs say could benefit them most.
Canberra Cavalry Assistant General Manager, Michael Fontein, said the partnership was a natural fit and stood to assist both clubs to grow. “The Cavalry have carved out a leading place on the summer sports calendar since we entered the ABL in 2010/11 and we’ve watched with interest as the CBR Brave have built a genuine alternative winter sport franchise since their inception in 2014 he said. “There really is a natural alignment – baseball and ice hockey are two key northern hemisphere sports and we’re both delivering a new and unique product in Canberra.”
CBR Brave Director Warren Apps said the complimentary nature of the fan base of each club along with the year round presence when the ABL and AIHL seasons were combined provided a unique opportunity for the two to work together to cross promote each other. “Together we offer a unique and alternative sports experience to Canberrans across both the summer and winter seasons so it makes sense to leverage each others strengths and work together to make each club stronger.”
As part of the deal, members of both teams will have access to 20% discounts on tickets to certain games as well as reciprocal membership benefits on merchandise while both teams will work together on promotional opportunities. Fans can also look forward to a friendly rivalry between the two club mascots – Sarge and Brave Bot!
